TRAINING
Go to the union hall located at 1283 Manawagonish Road, complete the application and submit it. The dispatch office DOES NOT accept any applications.
Any new postings are sent out via email to the current distribution list in dispatch and listed on the dispatch orders line at (506) 635-8514. Hard copies are posted in the hiring hall, lunchrooms & the union hall.
Postings are open for 7 days.
YES. We do not grandfather applicants that were not selected to the next open posting. If you were not selected, you need to apply again.
Yes, you need to possess all the prerequisites before applying. If you apply without the necessary requirements, your application will be marked as ineligible.
No. The PSJEA only contacts referral employees to check for availability.
The training would go to the next candidate on the seniority list. If it is not the last group of candidates for the posting, we will start back up at the top of the seniority list and try again next round. If it is the last group of candidates for the posting, you will then need to reapply for the next skill posting.
If you are unsuccessful in your training, you can reapply for the same skill in one calendar year from the date you were marked unsuccessful. If you fail the same skill training for a second time, you will not be able to apply for that specific skill training again.
In 2024 the PSJEA, in conjunction with ILA 273, has revamped the orientation process. New referrals will automatically be trained in the following skills: TUNNEL, DUMPER, FALL, WHMIS / HARASSMENT, BSEC, HOLD, SWEEP, SLING, CHOLD, POTSH & COOPER. After receiving this basic skill set you will need to apply for postings you are eligible for to acquire more skills.
